Abandonment

In chapter 6, Elie realizes Rabbi Eliahou's son purposely abandoned his father.I think that this must have been very hard for him to do because that's probably the only family he has in the concentration camp; the woman and children get killed first. Elie thinks he did this because he didn't want his father to see him die nor him to see his father die. He thought that it would just be better if they were separated for each others death. I would've thought they would have wanted to spend their last moments with each other but they also don't want to see each other die.

Sad eyed Angel.

In the book "Night" there is a character named "The Sad Eyed Angel". They call him this because he had a face that looked like a angel and everyone loved him. At the end of chapter four, he was hung along with 2 other people because he was associated with stealing weapons. Everyone then had to watch him die and everyone was sad because they loved him very much.

That was pretty much the only love outside of their own family that was there at this concentration camp. I personally think being hung was too much for stealing a couple of weapons.
